350 Watt Isolated DC-DC Converters for RF Applications
The AVE350B series of isolated DC-DC converters is designed specifically to provide the main 28 Vdc supply for RF power amplifiers in small-cell, low power and remote radio head (RRH) telecommunications applications. The series comprises two single output models: the AVE350B-24S28-6, which accepts a wide range input of 18 to 36 Vdc; and the AVE350B-48S28-6, which accepts a wide range input of 36 to 75 Vdc.
AVE350B series converters are capable of delivering up to 12.5 amps. Rated at 350 watts, they can operate over an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85˚C, continuing to deliver full power up to a baseplate temperature of 100˚C. Both models offer a wide output voltage trim range to meet a broad range of application needs and have no minimum load requirement. The AVE350B-24S28-6 can be trimmed from 14 to 33 Vdc, while the AVE350B-48S28-6 can be trimmed from 16.8 to 33 Vdc. Both converters use fixed-frequency switching to help minimize external EMI filtering requirements.
Based on a high power density open-frame design that incorporates a thermal baseplate, AVE350B series converters have an industry standard half-brick footprint and pin-out, with an installed height of just 0.5 inch (12.7 mm). Featuring a thermally optimized layout that is suitable for either conduction or forced air cooling, they offer ultra high conversion efficiencies of up to 94% at half load.
Standard features include input undervoltage lockout, remote On/Off and differential remote sense, as well as comprehensive protection against overtemperature and output overcurrent or overvoltage conditions.
