Artesyn Embedded Technologies, which embraces the well-known Astec brand, today announced that its Taiwan Design Center has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification of its quality management system for the design of switching power supplies.

Artesyn’s design center in Taiwan is focused on innovative designs of power supplies for server, switch, storage and cloud networking equipment. The engineering teams develop custom and modified-standard power supplies, including solutions for Open Data Center Committee (ODCC, formerly Project Scorpio) or Open Compute Project (OCP) data center installations.

ISO 9001:2015 is the latest version of the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Companies must also aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Changes introduced in the 2015 revision are intended to ensure that ISO 9001 continues to adapt to the changing environments in which organizations operate. Some of the key updates in ISO 9001:2015 include the introduction of new terminology, restructuring some of the information, an emphasis on risk-based thinking to enhance the application of the process approach, improved applicability for services, and increased leadership requirements.
